The project "The Way of the Artisan in the Caucasus" is aimed at increasing the tourist attractiveness of the Caucasus through the creation of 9 branded capsule gift collections that reveal the handicraft heritage of seven regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, the Republic of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory.
The main task is not only to actualize the unique cultural traditions of each region but also to build a narrative about the path of each master. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to train artisans with the participation of design and business mentors both online and offline; creation of capsule collections reflecting the cultural characteristics of each region; organization of photo expeditions with the participation of 3 eminent photographers of Russia and 3 expert anthropologists for the purpose of research - it is important to emphasize the skill of artisans of each specific region, the uniqueness of their products, as well as to create vivid visual materials for presentation and promotion. The finished collections, supplemented by photographic materials, will travel in a van pavilion in the summer of 2026 to the regions of the Caucasus, which will help strengthen the connection with traditions and folk culture among local residents, as well as increase interest in the cultures of the regions among tourists. In the same period, in Makhachkala, in the National Library of the Republic of Dagestan named after Rasul Gamzatov, photographs created during expeditions will be presented.
Project implementation period: January – September 2026 (9 months)
The target audience of the project includes craftsmen from the North Caucasus Federal District, the Republic of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory over 18 years old - representatives of various creative professions engaged in the development of unique products that reflect the identity and cultural code of the region, as well as residents and guests of the North Caucasus Federal District, the Republic of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory - visitors to exhibitions that contribute to the popularization of regional traditions.
