As part of the "Call Yourself" project, a webinar took place on April 18, 2024, on the topic "Fraud in the Microfinance Sector: How to Avoid Becoming a Victim and Protect Your Funds." During the webinar, experts from the Department, along with representatives from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow, the Notary Chamber of Moscow, the Center for Legal Assistance to Citizens in the Digital Environment, and the Bank of Russia discussed how fraudsters use personal data of citizens to obtain loans, as well as how to minimize the risks of personal data being misused by criminals. They talked about the most common types of fraud in the lending sector, shared examples of how people fell for tricks, and how law enforcement identifies crimes in the lending sphere.
