As part of the "Call Back Yourself" project, a webinar on the topic "Fraud in the Microfinance Sector: How Not to Become a Victim and Protect Your Funds" was held on April 18, 2024.
During the webinar, experts from the Department, together with representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moscow, the Notarial Chamber of Moscow, the Center for Legal Assistance to Citizens in the Digital Environment, as well as the Bank of Russia, discussed how scammers use citizens' personal data to obtain loans and how to minimize the risks of personal data being misused by fraudsters. They reviewed the most common types of fraud in the lending sector, shared examples of how people fell for scams, and explained how law enforcement uncovers crimes in the lending sphere.
